Blog Journal 5

I think Diigo is a very interesting tool that can be used for many things. It is very easy to use, and it is self-explanatory. I really liked how you could share an article to the group, so everyone could see it. I also liked how members of the group could annotate, comment on, or like the article shared. So far, I haven’t found anything that I dislike about Diigo.

During my experience with blogging thus far, I have learned quiet a few things. I have obviously had to learn about what I have been writing about in my blogs such as the CPALMS Toolbox, the ELA Standards, etc. so that has expanding my knowledge on educational technology. I have also learned about tools that I think will and will not benefit my classroom once I become a teacher. What I like about blogging is that I get to learn about these tools and software. I also like how I get to write about what my future class would be like and the rules I would have as a teacher (this can especially be seen in our blog journal about copyright, academic honesty, etc.). Something that I don’t like about the blog journals is how sometimes we write our blog journals about a subject we haven’t gone over, and we don’t go over until the class that it is due. For example, last week we wrote about academic software, but we didn’t learn about the different ones until class on the day the journal was due. Overall, I enjoy the blog journals. 

An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I found, and I might use in my future classroom is a website called kidblog. This would allow my students to be able to create a blog and write stories, reviews of books, etc. while being supervised by me and kept safe from other internet users. It is essentially blogger.com but with supervision which I think is very important for younger students. This could help my students to become better writers. It would also allow for peer editing and critiquing to be very easy since the students would have all their peers’ blogs on one website. I think this could get my students to become more interested in writing short stories, poems, or other things of those nature. This website is something that I wish I could have used when I was in elementary school and I think it would be a good addition to my future classroom. https://kidblog.org/home/
