After reading about the ELA technology standards for first grade, I think the one I would be most prepared to teach with my existing knowledge would be LAFS.1.RI.2.5 which states the person must “know and use various text features…to locate key facts or information in a text.” The text feature includes tables of contents, glossaries, etc. and I feel like I have a good understanding of how to do that. The technology that would be used with this standard would be online textbooks, and online scavenger hunts for various text features. As a student who has used online textbooks for a while, I feel like I would be prepared to use them in my classroom. Also, I think the online scavenger hunt would be a fun way to get the students accustomed to different online software and websites. Since I was in elementary school, I have been using Microsoft Word for educational purposes. Over the years, I have mainly used MS Word to write essays. Starting in high school, I began using Google Docs, but I am beginning to use MS Word again so I am currently relearning and re-familiarizing myself with the software.   I have seen my teachers use MS Word to give instruction by typing out what to do, printing out multiple copies, and giving them to the students. My teachers have also used MS Word to make announcement letters (very similar to a newsletter). In an educational environment, I have never witnessed the repercussions of what someone could experience if they did infringe on copyright laws, but I know obviously that there are consequences if copyright infringement does occur. I have had teachers that copy sections of a textbook or an article and they followed the rules of Fair Use. I would deal with these concepts as a teacher by making it super clear to my student...

Teachers and students across the globe use technology in their educational settings. I think unknown knowledge influences teachers and students to use technology in the classroom. By using different devices, they can expand their knowledge in many different ways that they couldn't before. I think people in educational settings want to learn more and by using technology, it is easier to do so. The ISTE "Knowledge Constructor" standard is very meaningful to me. In an age where so many facts are available to us, it is extremely important to know which websites and online articles are reliable or factitious. If a student uses false facts or information (on accident or on purpose), they become less credible and that is very undesirable. One standard that seems to be outside of my skill set is the "Innovative Designer" standard. This standard requires students to work with open-ended problems which is something I struggle with. Hello readers!        I am currently a freshman at Florida State University (Go 'Noles!). My major is Elementary Education and I hope after graduating that I will be able to teach kindergarten, first, or second grade. My hometown is just north of Jacksonville, Florida but I lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota for eleven years before moving to the "sunshine state". I haven't been anywhere outside of America but I hope one day I will be able to travel more outside of the country because I love traveling. As of now, my favorite place to travel to is New York City because I love the bright lights and skyscrapers. I am very family-orientated.
